View of Remours, Old, and New Dwellings, Le Château D'Annecy
The Old Dwelling is the middle of the three buildings in the picture. It is the oldest set of residential quarters in the castle. The Old Dwelling was erected around 1333. The facade was reconstructed in 1430. Inside the archway, there is a 40-meter deep well which was dug in 1371. The greater part of the Old Dwelling consists of The Grand Pèle which contains fourteen columns. The pillars were built in 1430 to support the main room above, "Aula Magna", 13m by 25m.
The Nemours Dwelling sits to the left of the Old Dwelling. It was built, for the most part, by Charlotte of Orleans in 1539. It contains the Treasure Tower, also known as the Pavilion Tower, integrated into it.
The New Dwelling is located to the right of the Old Dwelling. It was built between 1562 and 1571 to house troops.
From here, you can cross the courtyard to visit Perrière's Tower, you can go out the main gate, or you can visit the outside towers.
