View of Courtyard and Perrière's Tower, Le Château D'Annecy

In front of Perrière's Tower, to the right, you can see the remains of the well. Duke Louis of Savoy began construction of Perrière's Tower in 1445. This tower replaced an earlier keep, which was referred to in various texts around 1340, when repairs took place. The tower was known as the New Tower in 1487, the Government tower in the 18th century, and the Mountain Tower under the Revolution. The tower dominated the suburb of Perrière and controlled the main gate into the town (the Perrière Gate, part of the route from Italy to Geneva).

The Perriè're Dwelling was built alongside the tower in 1487. It is on the left of the image. It originally housed administrative services. Currently it and the tower house a museum.

From here, you can view the other side of the courtyard containing the dwellings, or you can go out through the main gate, or you can visit the towers.
