Outside view of Le Château D'Annecy, Annecy, France
There were fortifications at Annecy as early as the twelth century, if not before. In the thirteenth century, the fortifications became the home of the Counts of Geneva who had been forced to flee from their former capital on the banks of Lake Léman.
The castle consists of several towers, the Queen's Tower, the Treasure Tower, the Tower of St. Peter, the Tower of St. Paul, and the Perrière's Tower.
The castle also contains several buildings: the new dwelling, the old dwelling, the Nemours dwelling, and the Perrière's dwelling. These surround the courtyard with the well.
You can start the tour with the main gate, the
courtyard, or the outside towers.
