Christmas
December 31, 2006
Wow, last post of the year. It’s been a month since the last pictures and post. We’ve been busy and the boys have been sick off and on since Thanksgiving. Nothing serious, but they’ve been up enough at night until recently that we haven’t had the energy to do much else.
The windstorm we had a few weeks ago took out one of the centerposts in our fence. Jeff and Michael came over and helped us put it back together. Chris and Michael also helped us with the ongoing renovation of our family room. They helped paint and remove staples from the floor.
Our boys had a great Christmas. Last year they just sort of looked at the pretty wrapping paper. This year they unwrapped presents and played with them. Three dimensional toys (like Legos, trains, etc.) were a big hit this year, but they’ve played with everything. They are gradually learning to put their toys away, at least when mom and dad prompt (and lend a hand). The boys are being helpful more and more.
I had my first “parental” Christmas experience this year. One of the new toys is a kitchen playset. The boys love to pretend to cook. They make mac ‘n cheese and muffins. The kitchen playset Nancy picked out has 50,000 small parts. Nancy’s new office chair has fewer parts, and she sits on that!
The boys have learned lots of new words. Cats now go “meow” in addition to “hsss-fttt-fttt”. Andrew said, “Mimi and Poppa” the other day, and this morning he said, “Eat star”, which is exactly what he was doing. Every day it seems like the boys are bigger and better able to express themselves. We think that Owen is at least 36 inches tall and 28 lbs. and Andrew is at least 37 inches and 35 lbs. At least it made the fence seem light!
That’s about it for us.
